She/Her

Robin Melville, MA, LPCC, RYT-200

Therapist, Yoga Instructor

Hey, I’m Robin. Honestly, writing these bios always feels weird and there's no way to avoid coming across as forced, AND I totally get the value of them. So, hopefully this helps you find what you're seeking.

The key takeaways of the therapy jargon are summed up below; reach out if anything speaks to you!

  • I’m relational, meaning I am going to work with you as a human to another human - not a clinical robot checking boxes or an ‘expert’ on you and your life
  • I often incorporate feelings and body-based components (somatic therapy, mind/body connection) in addition to traditional talk therapy; this also means I offer therapeutic yoga, meditation, breathwork, and embodied healing experiences – all excellent options when you need to get out of your head!
  • I encourage mindful practices during session, meaning we practice noticing and observing thoughts, feelings, and sensations WITHOUT making judgments of them (don’t worry, it’s called a ‘practice’ for a reason)
  • I often reference and integrate Eastern perspectives and philosophies (Buddhist, Yogic, Taoist) to challenge or shift current ways of thinking and experiencing that have you feeling stuck
  • I do believe there is room for humor and enjoyment in therapy at times, in addition to the hard stuff we do – if you’re looking for a therapist that will be serious 100% of the time, keep looking
  • Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the corporate world, which gives me some solid experience in understanding just how difficult that world can be. I’ve found this to be a helpful asset for anyone facing similar challenges

A bit more detail about working with me, I am a certified yoga teacher (RYT-200), and I hold a certificate in Integrative Therapies and Healing Practices from the University of Minnesota. What this means is I offer therapeutic yoga, both individually and as classes, for body-based, emotional healing; AND I can integrate therapeutic and healing activities such as art, music, mindful writing, creative expression, meditation and nature-immersion into our work as we see fit (yes, this includes walk & talk therapy). Feel free to ask more about this!

If it sounds like a match, I am open to connecting with anyone in their teens and beyond. For reference, the majority of my experience has been working with individuals anywhere between their high school years to midlife chapters. With a trauma-informed approach, I am familiar navigating neurodivergent/ADHD experiences (shout out to my fellow late-diagnosed peeps), relationship challenges, attachment-based concerns, trauma history, mood disorders (anxiety, depression, OCD), life transitions, grief and loss, feminist rage, existential dread, and the overall stress level everyone is carrying in these “unprecedented times.”

TLDR; I’m a real, compassionate, human being that knows (some) theories and models of the brain & body that could help you out. I’ve lived (some) experiences that have taught me lessons worth sharing (we ALL have). And I welcome the opportunity for us to connect and share our gifts with each other.

Namaste!
