He/Him

Matt Lerick, MA

Therapist

Matt approaches therapy with the understanding that you are the expert of your life: you bring your own story, strengths, goals, and needs to the therapy room. Matt is committed to creating an affirming, inclusive, person-centered, and trauma-informed space that respects and supports people of all identities and abilities, including neurodivergent, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ folks. He believes in the power of connection, acceptance, and belonging to foster understanding, healing, and growth.

Before becoming a therapist, Matt worked for several years in public health. Through this experience, Matt developed a deeper appreciation for how our background, relationships, and the society in which we live play important roles in how we think, view ourselves, and create meaning in our lives. To Matt, this means taking a holistic approach to therapy as we explore and understand what matters most to you – whether it’s your current or past stressors, your identities, your community, or trying to find your place in the world. Together, we will work to cultivate a sense of curiosity, self-compassion, and insight while identifying intentional ways to move toward the life you want to build.

Matt has a strong interest in working with adults and teens who experience anxiety and depression, as well as those looking to understand their experience with ADHD, the complex implications of past trauma(s), and how to navigate difficult life circumstances, such as grief and loss. Matt offers clinical services under the supervision of Jesse Maistrovich.

Outside of the Office

As an active person and an avid winter-lover, Matt spends most of his free time going on walks with his wife, running, cross-country skiing, or hiking, in all of Minnesota’s lovely seasons. If stuck inside, he enjoys watching (and over-analyzing) Star Wars, reading sci-fi, and listening to Bad Bunny. But if it’s fall – aka football season – you can find him on Sundays glued to the TV wearing one of his (probably too many) favorite Minnesota Vikings jerseys.
